The Melbourne Coffee Review

Melbourne has some of the grooviest places to have a coffee. But where is the best coffee? I've had coffee's across the globe, but to be sure, here in the CBD of Melbourne (Australia) we are a bunch of coffee snobs (especially in Collins Street), and do not suffer bad coffee well. 1 bean = bloody worth looking up, 2 beans = something extra ordinary here. 3 Beans = close to sex. These are my reviews for them that give a bean!! Peter Christo [Enquiries +61(0)412133363]

The Old Treasury (Crn Collins & Queen, Selble)

For my money this is the best coffee on Collins Street. It’s a bit posh and hexy, but it’s a killer brew, served with respect within the old world charm of one of Melbourne’s old treasures. They seem to have trained their baristas well, except for the fact that sometimes they take forever to acknowledge you. They even throw in the obligatory biscotti. Rappidly coming to the conclusion that most of the coffee along Collins Street is at least good, but where is the best? So far, this place has it for me.

Moylans (384 Flinders Lane, between Queen and Market)

Nb: This place is closed now. Too bad.
The thing that makes this coffee great is its Barista Helena. This woman does magic with the espresso machine and creates a coffee experience of significant magnitude. Everything from taking your order; to delivering your morning brew with a smile and some quirky design she managed on the crema. The coffee comes second to the wonderful experience of Helena. I don’t think Mr Morgan knows the gold he has in that little place, but then who knows. Definitely worth a crack, before the 12pm rush for lunch. 8/10.
