The Melbourne Coffee Review

Melbourne has some of the grooviest places to have a coffee. But where is the best coffee? I've had coffee's across the globe, but to be sure, here in the CBD of Melbourne (Australia) we are a bunch of coffee snobs (especially in Collins Street), and do not suffer bad coffee well. 1 bean = bloody worth looking up, 2 beans = something extra ordinary here. 3 Beans = close to sex. These are my reviews for them that give a bean!! Peter Christo [Enquiries +61(0)412133363]

Section 8 Container Bar Tattersals Lane Melbourne Australia.

This is a way kewl place. Possibly too cool for me. While a bar, they do a unique coffee during the day. The thing about this place is that its totally outdoors, and uses a couple of containers and palletts to make up the decor and furniture. I loved it! On a sunny day it rocks, but I don't know what they plan for cold weather in Melb. I'm sure something is a foot.

They use Coffee Supreme, and take a bit of pride in churning out a respectable brew. Mine was a latte, however I'll be visiting a few more times to award a bean or two to them.

Pete

Try Za'Ba in Ackland, better than Kat Baloo

--

Kat Baloo (107 Acland St) has Wifi off ADSL2 (Fast)... it costs $2 per hour which is near free given the coffee is very good.

--

Melbourne Central (b/w Londsdale & Latrobe) - Food Court. Excellent wifi.

Food Inc - Melbourne Central Elisabeth Street. Ask for the key!!

Spiga Cafe - Melb Central
Just a quick one. Spiga in the alley way behind Food Inc. Has free wifi also. You need to ask for the key. They do an ok coffee, but the service is slack some times. They use Genovese, and a coffe will cost you about $2.80 (I think from memory). Worth it for the access to the net.. Food in has locked it up also.

PS: Yes, I'm posting this from the coffee shop!!

The Wine Shop 159 Spring Street Melbourne

Hey, what’s happened to Spring Street? Its spawning coffee shops like crazy around there. I hit the “Wine Shop” a couple of times, expecting a great coffee I must confess. Type: Grinders… while they did well, in terms of making it… the significantly pregnant (good luck to you) lady did a great job, with what I consider an ordinary blend. Definitely a passionate Barista, as was the gentleman who made one also. Taste sensation was slightly bitter, but a good temp, and well served coffee. It was rich in flavour, and they served it at a good hot temp, which is something the macciatos lose in this town some times I think (coldish). Coffee art was nil, but overall, good enough to be in Melbourne. I do however believe they are famous for their wines.. A bean.
