The Melbourne Coffee Review

Melbourne has some of the grooviest places to have a coffee. But where is the best coffee? Here in the CBD of Melbourne (Australia) we are a bunch of coffee snobs (especially in Collins Street), and do not suffer bad coffee well. 1 bean = bloody worth looking up, 2 beans = something extra ordinary here. 3 Beans = close to sex. These are my reviews for them that give a bean!! [Bus Enq +61(0)4121 33363, HotShot Enq Call Steve Agi on +61(0)43221 0963]

Switch Board Cafe - Mechantile Building Foyer, off Collins Street.

Occasionally I discover a real gem, and this is certainly one of them. Switchboard café goes where no one would have thought a café was possible, which tells me these guys are using their bean. These innovative entrepreneurs have wedged themselves a café in what was probably a store room and a shop window. Effectively a nook. I love it. This place has class and the guys are passionate about delivering you your custom made brew for the morning. The end product was as expected delivered in a unique old style orange glass, and the long macchiato was as smooth as silk. No bitterness and I could have sat on it for hours. Good work guys, welcome to the three bean club.

Also, worth noting that SwitchBoard was originally created by two lovely gals named Kate and Jade in 2005. The chaps who have taken over have done a great job of maintaining the original style and fabulous quality. Nice simple food and always great coffee.

I paid "The Switch Board Cafe" a visit last week, and I was shocked to find out that they charge $3.80 for a large size cup of takeawy coffee, I can not understand this mark up for a cup of coffee, I have had plenty of coffee's in the Melbourne CBD, and the most I have paid would be $3.50 for a large size takeaway cup,and at $3.80 I can not justify the price tag attached to the coffee however good the coffee might be.
