God I wished that was true as soon as I put the damned devil’s cup to my lips.

No! I lie, as soon as I saw the barista begin to make my brew, I regretted entering the place, but how could I resist , with the bait, a beautiful roaster right there in the window.
This funky little new cafe, just opened near the South Melbourne Market promised so much, looked so interesting, so inviting.
With the expectant fresh and specialty roasted coffee, I entered and was bewildered to watch the barista/owner prepare and extract my coffee.
The liquid pouring from the portafilter looked sickly and watery and did not let me down as by now I was expecting a total disaster.
Damn! Welcome to the one-sip club.
A total desecration a complete mess. I ordered a café latte for my companion, which came out way too hot, watery and lipid, big bubbled froth on top and no color, just a dull milky brown.
Needless to say, I’ve had better instant coffees back in the 80’s.
So sorry but this is anything but Brazilian lifestyle coffee, in the words of Metallica, “my lifestyle determines my deathstyle” and by the God of the bean these guys had savaged and slaughtered the delicate and sublime nectar of the Gods!

Sorry guys no beans here, just another one-sipper!

Steve
I must admit, I have yet to try your store, but I have been informed by your other clients that your coffee seems to be over-cooked giving a bitter burned coffee taste. Lets hope that it was just a once off bad batch but will definately make it out there one day to try your coffee. I am always up for a in-house roasted coffee….
I went there this week-end, ordered a short black. It was probably one of the best ones I have ever had.
You should give it another shot…
Hey nicolas,

Hi Steve,
Was wondering if you ever went back for that second coffee?
I have been buying our work beans from Brazil Lifestyle for over six months and will always make a point of having a coffee when in there.
I hope you did go back, because I would hate for someone to think badly about somewhere I cant talk highly enough about.
Regards
Brazil Lifestyle Lover.
My boyfriend & I think it is one of the best coffees we have ever tasted, we try coffees all over melbourne all the time in every suburb and even across victoria.Great tip, Make an effort to try more then one type of bean every time you go in there…you will not be disappointed, if your not happy with any coffee in any shop with the way it has been made, tell them and ask them to make it again…
Steve mate, were you reviewing coffee when you wrote that atrocious article or were you just on some hard drugs?
I have had coffee from Brazil Lifestyle on numerous occasions and have found their coffee great. I am a harsh coffee critic but I have found their in-house roasted imported beans fantastic. Very occasionally I have received a slightly burnt coffee but on the whole they are probably one of the best coffee spots in Melb.
Saul
Thanks for the heads up mate, but I did re-review and it was much better
thanks and cheers. Your input is invaluable!!
Steve,
Thats good to hear you returned to the coffee shop and more importantly, the coffee was good!
cheers,
Saul
Ok… Thanks Steve Agi – and I agree – I went into the Brazil Coffee shop in South Melbourne – Cecil Street – this morning, and usually the coffee is fair to ok – but this morning the coffee was terrible. I ordered a strong Cappucino – awful – watery goo with very little taste. Possibly the worst I have tasted in a few years. There was a small amount of FROTH on the top which I spooned out as it tasted bland and uninteresting. The consistency was ‘watery’ and the taste – hmmmmm – not sure what coffee it was but maybe I got the dregs from the last cup poured.
In a word – terrible – problem is I work very close to this place so I will have to make other plans for coffee
