climpson

After receiving a tip from one of our London readers, I visited Climpson & Sons on Saturday during a trip to Broadway Market and have to say it’s one of the best coffees I’ve had in London.

The queue was out the door and the wait was 15 minutes for this coffee, but the two (Australian) baristas took their time at a small machine to prepare each order individually, keeping the focus on quality.

The coffee tasted remarkably like Monmouth Coffee – quite acidic and full bodied. Climpson & Sons operates in partnership with Burgil Coffee, using beans from Peru but roasting the beans locally. The milk was prepared beautifully, at the right temperature and like liquid velvet.

The food in store was fantastic too – brilliant breakfast and light lunch options like smoked salmon on rye toast with wasabe mayonnaise, roasted peppers and coriander.

Perfect coffee and great service and food to go with it. Absolutely worth 3 beans!

I have to agree, this was one of the few coffee places I found and loved in London this June.

I lived on Broadway Market for 2 years and have to say that even though these coffees are very good the consistently bad customers service and class driven ‘snobby’ and unfriendly attitude of the staff easy counter the quality of the product.

    Brenton,
You are having a laugh yeah, Customer service at this joint is second to none. I know this place and the staff very well and you are clearly bitter about something else. ” Shocked”

No. Not having a laugh. The customer service here gives you a genuinely bad feeling when you walk out the door. I would even go as far as sugguesting that the management have good hard look at the people skill adopted by some of their staff and maybe consider replacing them.

I might have to agree with the snobbish vibe of the staff in the last times i been there, but often many classy decked out hospitality places leaves such taste, could it be us or them? i think they should smile n vibe more with the punters who pay their wages and keep that place alive.
