The Cube, how interesting….you should ALL know me well enough by now to know that I really like to think outside the cube, so instantly this place drew my attention, nestled away in amongst so many cafes and coffee houses.
That whole block is absolutely jam packed!!! Some good, some bad, some just plain ugly… let’s go in and have a look!
Instantly I was pleased to see the Tonino Lamborghini CAFFE sign adorning the back wall, so I breathed a sigh of relief, these guys must know their coffee, I thought, I hoped…..
Big and spacious, especially compared to the rest of the cube-sized cafes around this part of town, the warm and friendly staff were eager to please, quickly taking my order and bringing out a ristretto that was nice and short, with a dense, aromatic and viscous crema concealing a restricted extraction that was fit for Lucifer himself, wickedly brilliant!
Just to confirm my original assessment and satiate my caffeine addiction I ordered a double shot flat white and was pleased when it arrived with the dense umber edgings of the espresso cutting through the velvety and smooth milk, like a hot knife through butter. Rich, chocolaty and smooth, with a sublime mouth feel, both satisfying yet somehow morish, God, do I go back for another?????

Well do I, punk???
Two beans here, excellence of execution and another fine example of why Italians do it better…..espresso that is ;o)
Till next time, keep on caffeining on…….The Caffiend!
