What a day, busy busy busy, I was really looking forward to an afternoon caffeine hit to get me through the day, through the week.
In a strolled to the foyer of Collins Place and immediately opposite I spied this schmick looking place, so I headed straight for it, what’s a guy to do.
This place was really busy and had a lot of vibe, I was praying to the Gods that it could deliver on its claim of “GREAT” as I was a mess, really in need of a caffeine hit!
I ordered an espresso and began to feel the dark cloud circling above, out it came closer to 50mls rather than 30, almost to the lip of the demitasse cup…..NO!!!!!!!! I cried in desperation, NOT TODAY!!!!!!!
I was so disappointed but began to drink it anyway, what a mess, burnt, overextracted, lipid and lacking any semblance to the nectar of the God’s that a true shot of the Devil’s Cup is!!
Was I game to sample a café latte, Oh to hell with it, why not, it couldn’t get any worse I thought to myself, or could it… Well it did, a big meringue top with no texture, no mouthfeel, no hope.
Damn I was looking for inspiration for the up and coming Devil’s Cup radio show in the form of some more HOTSHOT cafes around town, but all I got instead was a desecration of the nectar of the Gods, a blasphemy against all things coffee.
