100 Coffee's

November 20, 2008

Just a quick note to advise on my “Coffee Club” experience during a very quick visit to the Ain’t-no-Sunshine State (It rained like I have never seen before).

My buddy Deano picked me up and, eager to impress, without taking to much of a risk, took me to this haunt for a coffee and some breaky.

I thought it may be appropriate to start evaluating Brisvegas anyway. Well the reception was good with a lovely waitress seeing us to our table and we quickly ordered away. I did my standard “long Macchiatto” and said (tongue in cheek), “please ask them to make the best one they ever made”. She actually wrote that on the order. What greeted me was an ok presented Long Mac, it looked ok, it even smelt ok, and the temp was fine. BUT, the bitter tang that hit my pallet was less than ok. Thankfully our food was good, and it helped wash down my last Coffee Club attempt from Brisbane at least. No beans I am sorry. Off to Sydney in two weeks, hopefully a better experience there.

  1. So, Melbourne still the best, you reckon? Or you have different point on how to coffee culture is going?

I’m assuming this is the coffee club at the end of the Brisbane mall? I went there a month or two ago on Sunday night with a couple of friends. I didn’t try the coffee, but we were treated with some of the worst service that I’ve ever seen:

My friend ordered a take away coffee, and I started reading the paper while we waited. About 2 mins after my friend had received his coffee, one of the waitress’s came over and said, “You know that it’s called a take-away coffee for a reason? Because you take it away. If you wanted to stay you shouldn’t have ordered take away. Can you leave?”

So we left, and I don’t think I’ll go back. Glad to hear that I won’t be missing out on a good brew in the future :-D

someone should let them know that the massess have spoken and we are NOT pleased!!!
