International Coffee Expo

What a glorious day, what an amazing drive out to this place, which comes highly recommended from Team Caffeine, I was pumped, ready for my afternoon caffeine hit, hope this place was worth the effort, because it would be a long drive back without some caffeine pumping through my veins.

I was hoping for a real Tour De Force on a sunny Melbourne afternoon.

With such high expectations, disappointment seemed likely, so I began to stress as I pulled up to this overly modest and quite unassuming kiosk type café in a park near Mordialloc pier; careful guys, if you sneeze you’ll miss this one, lets hope it was worth the effort…..

I ordered the customary espresso and to shake things up I also ordered a piccolo latte, and immediately was impressed by the fact that the barista knew and was competent enough to execute my order…

I received my espresso which visually was stunning, a great rich and thick crema with perfect inflection and an aroma that was heaven to the nose, it pre-empted the inevitable taste which made the whole drive merely a fond and distant memory, it made everything else pale into insignificance, it was exceptional

Matt, the maestro behind the espresso machine, handed me my piccolo latte which was adorned with a fern, to enhance the entire aesthetic experience, and I was not disappointed, in fact I was pleasantly impressed both by his humility as well as the delicate manner in which he prepared and served the Devil’s Cup.

A truly exceptional beverage, well textured milk, a delicate balance as well as a full and rich mouthfeel that could only be described as: 2 BEANS, and BIG ones at that.

Tour De Cafe not only lived up to the highest expectation but the Caffiend is proud to qualify them as a HOTSHOT café:

Till next time, keep on caffeining on…my Tour De Caffeine has only just begun.

I’ve always deliberately ignored this place, I mean its a kiosk, right? How could it possibly be good? More fool me! I’ll be checking this place out for sure!

In other news, Mylk in Frankston has closed. That place was as good as all the other cafes in the area put together. Sigh …
