Mount Dandenong VIC
It was the first weekend of the school holidays, a beautiful sunny afternoon, the troops were restless, so I threw them all into the back of the truck and headed off to the mountains, for a bit of R&R, Ristretto and revitalization!
What a view, what a spot, what an incredible way to begin the holidays, so much to do up there, mountaintop. (See Photo)
So after spending the day gallivanting about we headed for some late lunch and were impressed with the menu, both price-wise as well as variety.
The service was spot on, the meals excellent and great value, but what about the coffee?
It’s all about the coffee, isn’t it? The rest is all subterfuge, a distraction.
To be honest I was a tad hesitant in ordering given the overall environ was not really coffee focused, but I must say that after my meal which was adequate, I was presented with a well, extracted, aromatic, viscous and full bodied beverage, much to my surprise and delight.
It was actually quite fruity, with a decent punch and a viscous mouth feel.
Quite acceptable, as was my wife’s café latte, which was really well prepared, presented and appreciated from our end!
An overall corker of a day, a bean @ Sky High for the CaFFiend and an overall pleasant surprise, so remember one and all my words of wisdom, never judge a book by its cover, the proof lies in the cup!!
Stay tuned my trek through the Dandenongs continues in search of things to amuse the kids with over the holidays and for the ultimate caffeine fuelled insanity!
Coffee: Grinders

Did you try Ripe in Sassafras? They make a good brew. The Black Kettle in Sassafras is also worth a look.
You may find coffee tree inside the Dandenong jungle…
