Kew East VIC 3101

One of my favourite areas in Melbourne is Kew and it’s beautiful surroundings. The Cafes and restaurants are always a great place to eat at or taking the family for coffee and cakes. My Husband and I visit High St probably too often, but this time we decided to try a different place and had seen Cocoa Patisserie, but always stayed loyal to another café. Wow, was gobbed smacked with all the delicately made cakes and mini cakes sitting right there waiting for someone to take them home. As we walked in, there was not too much room to pass through, especially when one has a pram with them! We managed and didn’t trip anyone over in the process of gaining a table.

Although I am not one to care about the décor of a place (as long as it’s clean). Cocoa’s fitted out with a warm modern décor which really works in this side of Kew. There are many cafes in the area who are reputable, but this place seems to attract a different crowd, who have a different expectation of taste and presentation of coffee.

Well, after quickly sinking in the scenery I wasn’t sure to order at the counter or if there was tabIe service, but quickly realised there was no table service and ordered my ristretto and my husband an espresso, (Oh and a babycino for my princess of course, along with a few very chunky vanilla slices to share). The staff seemed a little baffled with my order, but luckily and thankfully I noticed the barista knew what she was doing! After a few minutes our coffee’s arrived. My ristretto was too short for my likings, needed the rest of the crema, not just the first few seconds of exctracting. The taste was full in flavour (with a bite) and leaving me feeling like another. But this time I ordered a caffe latte, and only a short wait my second coffee was in front of me. Although there was no real coffee art here, the combination of milk and espresso was creamy, with a dense crema. The temperature was spot on, giving my taste buds a slight citrus flavour, with a hint of a chocolate aftertaste.

Thank-you Cocoa, 2 Beans for you!

Why can’t I find this cafe in the yellow pages? I’m looking for their phone number.
