Whilst many coffee lovers believe it is impossible to get a decent cup past the inner city suburbs, I say to you snobs THIS IS NOT TRUE!
The team at Kofi beans in Croydon need a huge wrap. I am a regular visitor to this cafe, and whilst I am often drawn to the atmosphere, created in cafe’s in places like brunswick St Fitzroy, Sydney Rd, and of course our beloved hidden laneways, cramming the CBD, Kofi beans is something else. It is fitted with bohemian decor, creating a soothing and relaxed Byron Bay type lifestyle. The cafe showcases gorgeous artwork and scuptures, and has a great little courtyard out the back, where you feel totally isolated from anything going on in the world.
All well and good, but how do they go with the coffee? I have seen a few different people on the machine each time ive visited. However I can safely say that the coffee is consistently good. I didnt stand over the machine watching what the barista could produce, just sat back and let the lovely staff bring the coffee to me. My short mac was solid. A little light on the milk added, but it gave me a chance to really taste the flavours of the bean on my palate. smooth with a nutty and almost spicy aftertaste, well extracted, and I could really get a full feel through all my senses. My latte, well presented too. A silky textured finish and a great sipping temperature.
A huge hand for these guys, and easily deserving of a solid 1 bean for consistent coffee, and a beautiful place. Truley representing the outer east EXTREMELY well. Keep it coming, ill be back for more guys!

Cheers for this one. Kofi Beans do have great coffee especially for the outer east and deserve a visit should you ever be stuck in the ever so steadily improving Croydon.
This is my daily haunt:)
Definitely the best coffee out this way.
I have witnessed the owner evolve from ‘owner/ sometimes beverage maker’ to a barista that continues to refine his coffee, through differing technique and bean selection.
Staff are lovely! Can get busy at times, but it’s worth the wait in my books

I was a regular visitor, but was disappointed last Sunday. The place was packed, coffee machine still running, but was refused service because it was 1min past 4pm. They make an OK machiatto, but I wont be back any time soon.
Not only is the coffee consistently good, the service excellent, the surroundings inviting and the music smooth but the blueberry pancakes are to die for!
but watch out for the lounge suite, fall into that and you’ll never be able to leave. A sneaky ploy, or just a broken down lounge?
