That’s it for the three beaners for 2012, but the other 85 1 and 2 beaners are awesome cafes also and deserve your praise. If you don’t get the hard copy guide, then look out for the ebook, due on the Apple App store in a couple of weeks. For the rest of you you’ll need to wait for the new smart phone apps reseasing on iPhone and Andriod in january 2012.

In the meanwhile, from me, Peter Christo, and the rest of the MCR team, have a great, safe and peaceful holiday and we’ll see you next year for more great coffee spots.

In the meanwhile, remember, life is too short for bad coffee!

We had a small part to play in this doco on the history of coffee culture. I thought it was really well done. Some very interesting facts, except the common missconception that coffee is the second largest traded commodity in the world; it’s not! Regardless, Good on ya Channel 10.

Hi MCR fans,

Its that time of year again when MCR publishes its Top 100 cafes for the coming year, 2012. Its our 3rd edition, and in our humble opinion the best one yet. This year we included the votes from you the users and drinkers of Melbournes finest coffee for the first time as a major component of the selection process.

We also used upcoming writers with a passion for coffee thanks to the Victorian Writers Association. We were lucky to get Spiri Tsintziras as Editor this year, a published author and foodie in her own right. She has taken over the role with energy and passion and brought together a great publication we are delighted with.

This year, along with the Top 100 iPhone app, we are publishing an eBook and hard copy publication to cater for new and old school readers. The hard copy version is available as a limited edition (limit of 500 only) pre-purchasable here only.

We will have the iPhone app and eBook available on Apples iTunes by Xmas. For now, you can pre-purchase the hard copy guide for $34.95 (AUD). Orders received by end of Nov will be delivered in time for Xmas day gift unwrapping.
