Concord Pike

Wilmington Delaware USA

panera1

Panera Bread is obviously known for their fresh baked bread and specialty breads but they also claim to have some pretty good coffee… I placed a take out order for some sandwiches and ordered an espresso to drink while I waited. I took a seat at my nearest table and waited….. and waited….. and waited….. the girl behind the counter was in deep conversation with an employee that was on her break and not really worried about my caffeine fix. Finally I politely asked about my coffee, and she pointed to the end of the counter where stood a huge 16oz styrofoam cup… I said there must be some mistake because I ordered an espresso, but she assured me there was no mistake and that the 16oz cup contained my tiny shot of espresso… Sure enough I picked up the cup and it felt almost empty, one tiny shot of espresso placed in a huge 16 oz cup… By the time it reached my lips it was luke warm, and I was ready to be dissapointed but to my surprise I was not! Not only was the taste very inviting, but the caffeine consistency was at least 110%… I finished my coffee grabbed my sandwiches and was quickly out the door. All and all it was not such a bad experience, but suffice to say, the next time I come in I will be prepared with my very own espresso cup at hand…

Even by Melbourne standards this one as least a ONE BEAN experience!

Concord Gallery
Wilmington Delaware USA

This one’s the last one for the year from Team Caffeine USA, Kally sent this one in, sounds like it was quite an experience, enjoy:

So after a long day of running around and running out of fuel we decided to stop in at the Concord Gallery Brew Ha Ha for a quick shot of caffeine… It was nice to see that it was child friendly with plenty of books and puzzles for our 4 year old to stay busy. I guess I should have been a little upset when the barista forgot to make my macchiato but she eventually brought it out and my spirits were quickly lifted… My husband had the cubano and right after his first sip his exact words were: “It hit me like a bean bag shot out of a shot gun!” I would say that’s a pretty good feeling! My macchiato was equally as good and put a very big smile on my face.. Now we know why they’ve been voted the best of Delaware 14 years in a row. The jolt of caffeine was exactly what we needed to get through the rest of the day. Their menu includes serious coffee, other caffeinations, not coffee, pastries and food for thought… They have 5 different philosophies and one of them is: Great coffee is for everyone not just a select few, no advanced degrees are needed to appreciate it…..just a desire to experience the pleasure it provides….

3 Big Beans for these guys and just what we needed after the holiday madness!!!

What a great way to end the year and all the best to everyone for 2009 from the CaFFiend.
Thank you for making 2008 the best one yet, and we hope you all stick around and be a part the caffeine fuelled fun we have in store for you for 2009…….till next time, keep on caffeining on!!!

Concord Mall

Wilmington Delaware U.S.A.

coffeebeaneryThe Melbourne Coffee review is on tour again, this time out to Delaware with the highly caffeinated Al, WELCOME to the team with this little cafe, hope you all enjoy:
It’s that time of year again and as much as I swear that I will not go to the mall, and that I will do all my shopping online….. here I am once again at the mall. In and out of stores, taking my 4 year old to the bathroom

several times, up and down the esclators, I am in deep need of a heavy duty shot of caffeine! So off to the only coffee shop in the mall, The Coffee Beanery. There are only 2 small tables and the store is a little cramed, but that’s o.k. as long as the coffee is good… I take my first sip breathless with anticipation but unfortunately it was nothing to write home about.

It tasted a little flat, watery and almost tobaccoy, in a really harsh way.

It did not even give me the caffeine boost I so desperately needed… I guess being the only coffee shop in the mall means you don’t have to try too hard since there is no other competition.

Sadly no beans here but a hope that they will pick up their act and give us all satisfaction, that’s what we need…..

The Caffiend sympathizes with you my man Al, bean there drunk that felt the disappointment often dude, keep on caffeining on in search of that perfect ‘hit’ and WELCOME to the ranks …….

till next time…….
