The financial success of Starbucks has seen many imitators join the race for the buck in the coffee world.  A recent trip to L.A saw me wandering around in search of coffee at 9 p.m for some crazy reason, I really should have been looking for a full bodied cabernet sauvignon and a nice place to lie down, but the heat of the Californian night had me fired up and looking for adventure. I swaggered into a formulaic looking coffee joint and ordered a doppio.  The result was, as you can see above, uninspiring.  The taste was not much better, a supremely bitter, lipid half cup of stuff.  Shoulda gone the wine…..Seriously, why do I do this to myself?
